Founding Director


Prof.Dr. Selçuk Çolakoğlu

Professor Selçuk Çolakoğlu is the Founding Director of the Turkish Center for Asia-Pacific Studies (APAC).

 

Dr. Selçuk Çolakoğlu is currently a faculty member in the Globalization and Development Program and the Associate Head of the Department of Social Sciences at Beijing Normal – Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) in Zhuhai, China.


Previously, he served as a faculty member at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) in Seoul, South Korea. In Turkey, Dr. Çolakoğlu held several administrative roles at Adnan Menderes University in Aydın, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Chair of the Department of International Relations, and Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences. He has also lectured at other prominent Turkish universities, such as Ankara University, the Middle East Technical University, Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Pamukkale University, and the Izmir University of Economics.

Dr. Çolakoğlu's research has taken him across the globe. He has been a visiting research fellow at the Korea Foundation in Seoul, the Near East and South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Research at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) in Sejong.


Beyond academia, he has served as an advisor to the Center for Strategic Research (SAM) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and as Vice President of the International Strategic Research Organization (USAK). Additionally, he is a Scientific Committee Member of EURISPES – Institute of Political, Economic, and Social Studies in Rome, Italy.
